Have you ever wondered what pop culture characters would look like if their skeletons were visible? One artist actually imagined it! Will Blood is an artist from the south of England, UK, who creates X-ray illustrations featuring famous characters from our childhood.

His series called “The Book of Bare Bones” depicts the skeletons of such animated movie classics as The Simpsons, Spongebob Squarepants, Rick and Morty, Pink Panther, and pop culture characters like Hello Kitty and Lego. For his artwork, Will usually uses pen and ink and moves them into walls and canvas. The artist has worked on various projects worldwide, from murals to merchandise design. His works have been shown in galleries from London to Hong Kong. However, this series is by far his most successful work and has gained him acclaim around the globe.
“I guess conceptually, it’s just nostalgia combined with my own fascination with anatomy and death. Stylistically, the pieces have developed combining my love of the classic illustrators like Durer and Dore with contemporary artists like Keith Haring. It’s one of several series I do, but has always been the most popular since the first I drew in 2013,” says the artist to Bored Panda.
