Atelier Tekuto’s Polygonal House In Tokyo

[ad_1]

The compact and multifaceted three-storey home has a striking facade, with white volumes cascading in a polygonal shape. The architects wanted to design a home that maximized its volume, thus the corner-plot residence works within tight space constraints. The building’s corners appear to have been cut away, replaced by angular windows and walls that create a unique geometric structure. Inside, the use of transparent and opaque surfaces plays on the theme of reflection in a nod to the project’s title. The architects explain that the style of the house is a motif for the image of real ‘minerals’ that are buried underground. ‘Reflection of Mineral’ is an expression of Japanese minimalism and an exemplary solution to space restrictions in the world’s most populous city.
