Located at the very end of the village of Sotta, ‘Casa R’ was built on a rural site characterized by a succession of boulders with a steep vertical drop. “In order to rightly insert the volume between two rocky spurs, we imagined a very simple and vertical house that would have minimum impact on the ground,” explains the firm. Designed to be a simple volume of sandblasted concrete, the minimal building is perfectly camouflaged, seamlessly blending in with the surrounding rocks thanks to the textural quality of the facade. The austere geometry that defines the building from the outside is contrasted by an elegant interior which features different intimate atmospheres. Spaces are designed with varying heights, finished with warm materials, and characterized by wooden windows that invite the natural surroundings and sunlight into the residence.
