Geneto’s House In Osaka Shows That Less Is More

Measuring four meters wide and 11 meters deep, the plot size was small and required an imaginative floor plan in order to comfortably house a family of four. The clients requested a spacious living room, storage, private bedrooms, and rooftop space for their family to enjoy. “In order to realize the richness in life while satisfying all these conditions,” the architects explain, “we focused on the size of each room and advanced the design.” The home has subsequently been separated across levels with substantial built-in vertical storage. The areas that are used as communal spaces are the largest and flow into one another, whilst bedrooms are smaller, built for the purpose of sleeping. With both the interior and the built-in furniture crafted from plywood, there is an overarching aesthetic that provides consistency between the levels and their various functions.
