Neo-Baroque With Cleola

[ad_1]

Cleola is a label born for fashionable rebellion—in the latest editorial for IGNANT, the drama of Baroque style is reborn as the LA label flirts with flora and fruit.

Berlin-based photographer Clara Renner has captured the sensual opulence of a neo-baroque collection by throwing caution to the wind: incorporating cowboys, 90s prom dresses, garlands of fruit, fishing tackle and store-bought bouquets in this editorial. Through her lens, gauzy material stretches in shades of plum and mauve across bodies, a hand of bananas becomes a 17th-century ruff, and aubergines laze across the womb like sleeping babies.

Savannah Davis, the founder of Cleola, designs for women who like dressing up—but she does so without ego and for fun. Without any formal training in fashion design, Davis quit her job as a stylist in NYC and determined to begin a label that celebrated women. In Cleola she has created just this: A label that is simultaneously adventurous and glamorous, designed for women who dance with the devil, but only ever on their own terms.
