Studio YOY Create A Window With A Built-In Breeze

Created by Japanese design studio YOY, ‘WIND’ is a simple installation of a suspended window frame and a sheer curtain.

The design team have integrated eight small fans along the wood panels, which causes the light material to float, and presents the illusion of a gentle breeze coming from the space within the empty frame. Each fan has been programmed to mimic the natural motions of wind. ‘WIND’ has been developed as part of the exhibition ‘Art and Design, dialogue with materials’ at the Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art and Design. Here it will be installed in a windowless space in the museum, of this studio YOY says, “It was our challenge to change the perception of the space by creating a wind that shouldn’t be there.”
