Linnea Stephan is a Los Angeles-based photographer and writer. Her portrait and documentary photography captures a poetic view of everyday life, channeled through real-life characters and their interactions with one another. Stephan often presents intimate views of community members, particularly to celebrate elements of resilience in their life stories. Interested in mental health and social justice, much of Stephan’s work helps to break stigma around issues in society, including a recent body of work that focuses on the strength of women and children directly affected by suicide. Stephan photographs with thoughtfulness and confidence and her images share a narrative of admiration for her subjects.
