A Glimpse Into The Diary Of Ryan James Caruthers

Since the age of 14, Ryan James Caruthers has been experimenting with analogue photography, with his intimate visual studies of identity born from self portraits taken in the woods. His work continues to explore this theme, whether he is creating commissions for the likes of Dazed, New York Magazine and Coeval, or capturing portraits and landscapes for his ‘Diary’ project. This collection of images presents a sensual insight to the quieter moments of coming-of-age, sharing tales of queerness and experiences of everyday life. Now based in Brooklyn, Caruthers has recently been recognised by the British Journal of Photography’s Breakthrough Awards and also art directs and designs the independent print publication Close Journal.
