Santa Monica, California, 1979

Following leaving Portsmouth, New Hampshire, the city wherever he was born and lifted, Paul McDonough went initial to Cambridge, Massachussets and then New York Metropolis, wherever his existence as a photographer began in earnest. And though he never ever tired of New York’s kaleidoscopic street scene, he felt the tug of the west, and of the sprawling, dreaming country that lay concerning the two coasts.

From the 1960’s via the 1990’s McDonough manufactured numerous photographic treks, trying to get to seize folks, animals, architecture, land-and-cityscapes — in small, the American existence, pre-web, pre-cell phone, that was thrumming all all-around him.
