Anna Jornet Documents Family Life In The Mountains

Girona-born photographer Anna Jornet documents life as it occurs around her, capturing along the way essences of Catalan identity and culture.

In the series ‘Île’, Jornet presents a visual narrative about a family who decided to retreat into the mountains, re-building their lives through an exploration of freedom and isolation. A tension between these two qualities of life can be perceived in the series, which depicts quiet moment as the family interacts with each other and their surrounding natural environment. About the series, the photographer explains, “Île conceives nature like they have shown me, as part of the human being, as a space that determines the perception of time and nourishes inner observation, curiosity and creativity.”
