Carlota Guerrero’s Majestic Work Celebrates Women

[ad_1]

Guerrero interweaves elements of performance art, fashion, still lifes, nature, and feminism with adeptness. Her body of work is impressively varied, including photographing haute couture editorials for Givenchy and Dior, art directing a live performance for the poet Rupi Kaur, and creating the art direction and artwork for the musician Solange’s third studio album, A Seat At The Table. For this collaboration, Guerrero also contributed imagery with a strong visual language to the singer’s 112-page conceptual digital book. Guerrero’s personal work is equally majestic, including ‘La Danse’: a modern reinterpretation of Matisse’s 1909 painting ‘La Danse I’, where a quintet of naked women bring to life the vibrancy of Matisse’s iconic artwork. What binds Guerrero’s ethereal work together consistently is her hazy, analog aesthetic and unique blend of rawness, nature, and femininity.
