Iceman Ötzi Peak · South Tyrol, Italy

Located right on a glacier at the very top of the ridge, the platform sits 3,251 metres above sea level. The Bolzano and Berlin-based firm noa*, also known as network of architecture, designed the platform to appear to hover above the ground at certain angles, to heighten the experience of the impressive view. The architects constructed the platform from Corten steel, for a “modern touch that also blends in with the landscape.” Visitors can access Ötzi Peak by climbing a series of stairs, as an added attraction for guests of the nearby Hotel Grawand, which claims to be the highest hotel in Europe. “The unique platform creates a fully immersive, sensual experience in which time stands still for a moment and every other souvenir is eclipsed,” explain the architects.
