Ligne Roset Revisits 1950s Nordic Design With The Recreation Of Pierre Paulson’s Iconic Daybed

The daybed was part of a collection that debuted in his 1953 exhibition at the Salon des Arts Ménagers in Paris. “The reduced elegance of the char was revolutionary at the beginning of the 1950s, and seems more relevant today than ever before,” explains a statement from Ligne Roset. “The preference for natural materials such as wood, the desire for less consumption and a concentration on honest, essential products, all speak for the daybed”. An emphasis on Scandinavian design and a return to 1950s aesthetics is a well established occurence in the world of furniture design; it was in this era that progressive manufacturing techniques and classic styles emerged that remain today. The Pierre Paulson Daybed contrasts light and dark wood—beech and American walnut, with two-tone cushions and reinforced with a metal frame with black steel feet.
