Mark Sommerfeld Captures The Light We Cannot See

[ad_1]

Toronto-based photographer Mark Sommerfeld’s deft eye for color and form, coupled with his use of intense illumination, makes his work instantly recognizable.

Moving between portraiture, reportage and observation, it is Sommerfeld’s ability to capture fleeting moments that draws his oeuvre together: his photographs united by the unreserved nature of their content. Often his work meditates on poignant moments from his life. We previously featured his series ‘We With Images To Give’; a collaborative project with his ex-girlfriend that contemplated the breakdown of their relationship through photographs from an eight-day road trip. Sommerfeld’s other projects follow this openness, presenting intimate moments with friends and family, and documenting their shared day-to-day experiences through his thoughtfully considered lens.
