Monochrome Masterpieces: The Fire Stations Of Italy

Pedevilla Architects have designed two minimalist, monochromatic, functionalist fire stations in Italy — one casting a golden glow across the mountains in Vierschac, South Tyrol, the other, a rose-tinted building, warming the snowy landscape of Taufers in Northern Italy.

The Italian firm is known for the simplicity and intelligence of their designs, linking the interior of sites with their exterior and surrounds. These two distinctive fire stations are perhaps their most renowned projects, both pared back and free from decoration — but striking regardless. Vierschach and Taufers each feature flexible interiors, with chosen monochromatic color-schemes softened by light wood interiors, exposed concrete, and large windows allowing for maximum natural light.
