On The Belgian Coast, Residence DVB Is A Calming Place Designed With Tradition In Mind

“The architecture is embedded in the local context, near the coast, with respect to tradition and embracing the essence of life by creating a feeling of warmth and authenticity,” the designer explains. Conducive to simple pleasures, the stripped-back residence includes rooms for living, relaxation, and entertainment, with hallways featuring a curling structure, enhancing elegance and warmth. Characterized by a strong sense of detail, the family home presents a soft and textured material palette, with a significant use of Travertine, oak, and natural mineral plaster, creating a sense of serenity throughout. “We chose rough terracotta flooring in the kitchen and wellness area combined with tactile materials such as onyx, which is perfect to combine with a warm, hidden lighting,” the designer continues. Complementing the soft-hued color scheme are dusty pink Utrecht Armchairs as well as striking fixtures and furniture from New York Lighting Studio Apparatus and Italian design house Minotti and Gessi. The many design details come together in a striking interplay between interior and exterior spaces, a connection further strengthened by the abundant sunlight and tranquil surrounding garden.
