The Showy And Coloured Selfies Of Véronique Duplain

Véronique Duplain‘s “Selfie Project” started in February 2014, when the Montreal photographer decided to make one self-portrait everyday. Her project was finally extended over six years, and takes a critical look at social networks and their uses, including voyeurism and the media construction of public figures.

Through this series both funny and aesthetic, the self-taught photographer has learned to manage every aspects of her work: artistic direction, production, sets, lighting, editing… And her whole project is made of selfies, since she triggers herself her camera, remotely.

Selfidea . #SelfieProject day 26, 6th edition . A question that I often hear : Where do my ideas come from? Honestly, I never really know what to answer. Sometimes, it just appears in my daily life. Sometimes, I think about concept that I could find interesting. And other times, I just do something and it appears. For this photo, I had no idea what to do. White, black. Yin, Yang. Good, bad. I didn’t really know but it then it appeared under my eyes and after all, sharing my thought process was THE idea. . .
