Based in Valencia, Fran Silvestre Arquitectos is an architecture and design studio that constructs a diverse range of public and private buildings around the globe. ‘The Stone Atelier’ was created to provide an office and exhibition space for stone specialists Petra.
As a company that transforms natural stone into luxury items, Petra required a base that could operate as an office and a space to showcase the stone varieties. ‘The Stone Atelier’ offers an exhibition gallery for Stonehegen, who provide luxury and semi-precious stones to international architects and interior designers. Fran Silvestre Arquitectos have established a studio of modernist design. Marble finishings have been used in the reception area and a circular gallery space conceals the variations of stone behind white doors, enabling focus on each material in observation. The circular form of the stone exhibition room is punctuated by an O-shaped central meeting space in black upholstery, offering an open setting for discussion as opposed to the usual desk and chair format. The studio also includes a number of offices, naturally lit through skylights, that are used by Petra’s resident designers.
