Photographer Kelsey McClellan was born in Texas, and is now based in San Francisco. Whilst wandering around her neighbourhood, she frequently began to notice the presence of bizarre looking trees and bushes. McClellan has since been documenting the strange specimens, and the compiled images present an amusing inventory of neighbourhood surrealism. It’s hard to decide which trees have naturally grown into pom-poms and spirals, and which have been tended to and trimmed as part of a local in-joke. Appearing to look like digital renderings of bubble writing and green cloud formations, the trees in McClellan’s series invent a playful narrative for the gardens and their owners.
