Canadian photographer Todd McLellan draws on his upbringing in a household of technicians and engineers to create deconstructed still lives of everyday objects. McLellan’s ongoing series, “Things Come Apart”, features objects ranging from bicycles to coffee grinders and cameras and even a toilet. Each item is meticulously deconstructed and its parts laid out in a neat, aesthetically satisfying arrangement, creating abstract images of technical items. The photographer’s series allows him to combined his passion for image making with his hobby of understanding how things work from the inside. He states that his most intensive project involved a piano, which took him five days to take apart and arrange.
