Tyler Mitchell Shoots Marc Jacobs AW17

To shoot his AW17 campaign, Marc Jacobs called on New-York based photographer and filmmaker Tyler Mitchell. The collection was inspired by ‘Hip-Hop Evolution’–a documentary about hip hop culture in 90s New York, and features tracksuit two-pieces, oversized sweaters, fur-collared jackets and bucket hats. Alongside stylist Julia Baylis, the photographer was given free reign on creative direction, casting his friends and street-scouted New Yorkers in the process. Considering his approach to the shoot, Mitchell explains, “I saw the collection and immediately thought about boys in womenswear runway clothing. I thought about taking a brand like Marc Jacobs and setting a shoot up how Dipset might have in the 90s – a bunch of kids hanging around.”
