To kick off the summertime, USPS has teamed up with NASA to release a glimmering collection of stamps that celebrate 10 several years truly worth of photographs of the Sun. Printed with a foil cure, the 10 styles are derived from some of the Sun’s most alluring phenomena captured by the Solar Dynamics Observatory, to illustrate diverse sun chronicles these types of as plasma blasts, sunspots, and photo voltaic flares.
NASA released a spacecraft, the Photo voltaic Dynamics Observatory (SDO) in February 2010 as a way to observe the Sun’s exercise in geosynchronous orbit previously mentioned Earth. Each individual picture is colorized by NASA and does not represent the true shades of the sun as perceived by human eyesight. Two of the stamps function visuals of coronal holes, a single highlights sunspots, two depict plasma blasts, two exhibit coronal loops, one particular is a check out of an energetic sun that emphasizes its magnetic fields, and the last two show distinctive sights of a photo voltaic flare.
These stamps are now obtainable for order in sheets of 20 from USPS.
