Australian artist Claire Marie is “reducing the selection of outdated surfboards that conclude up in a landfill, a single artwork at a time.” Her sustainable artistic follow uses discarded fiberglass surfboards as canvases for outstanding paintings of the ocean.
Each individual finished piece gives a glimpse into a specific aquatic retreat. “Using the surfboards as a canvas permits me to paint significant good art items like seascapes though at the very same time indulge my passion for element function,” Marie describes to My Present day Satisfied. When some of her creations depict crashing ocean waves, some others seize underwater everyday living or even tropical islands.
“It’s the smaller aspects in the artwork that can make each individual commissioned surfboard distinctive and personalized but the surfboard itself also holds its individual memories from the time it has put in out in the waves,” she carries on. “On the back again of each board is a modest handwritten notice which presents a tiny insight into the story of the board and the artwork.” In addition to upcycling observed resources, Marie also carbon offsets the surfboards that are shipped abroad by planting native trees.
