Is it floating in the air? That’s the query you have to check with when viewing Russian textile artist Katerina Marchenko‘s ethereal tulle creations. She stitches surreal designs loaded with vibrant thread and shiny beads onto clear material, producing the illusion that the embroidery hovers on its possess.
Although she was always drawn to different creative mediums, Marchenko only not long ago found embroidery. “A 2016 sewing class impressed me to create an embroidered tulle shirt, and the next year I took an embroidery course at Ecole Lesage College in Paris,” she tells My Present day Fulfilled. “I experienced a great want to get the job done with coloration, and this wish discovered by itself in the embroidery.” Her illustrations characteristic an array of expressive stitches—from clean black linework to thick patches of coloration that have a painterly high-quality to them.
