As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to loom large, many people are debating whether schools in the U.S. should reopen in September. Parents are understandably concerned about the safety of their children attending in-person classes, but there’s one principal in Alabama who’s helping to put their minds (and their kids’ minds) at ease. Dr. Quentin Lee of Childersburg High School understands the concerns surrounding the new school year, but he also knows comedy can help people cope with the stress. That’s why he made a hilarious (and informative) COVID-19 parody of MC Hammer’s U Can’t Touch This that reminds his students how to stay safe.

Dr. Lee puts a twist on MC Hammer’s catchy lyrics by rapping about the many COVID-19 safety measures that need to take place in schools. Wearing a face mask and holding a bottle of hand sanitizer and a non-contact forehead thermometer in his hands, he goes about comically enforcing the safety rules with students and teachers. From the importance of hand-washing and wearing gloves to keeping six feet of physical distance and cleaning surfaces with Lysol, the lighthearted parody covers everything people should abide by while we continue to live in the “new normal.”

Now with over five million views on YouTube, Dr. Lee’s Can’t Touch This Covid Parody is a big hit. Part of its success could be down to the eccentric principal’s epic dance moves. He’s seen doing “the running man,” the MC Hammer dance, and other hilarious choreographed moves with his students.
