Recently, creatively-cooked and artistically-arranged food has been elevated to its own unique form of art. One edible art connoisseur that continues to contribute to this tasty trend is kinakobun, an Instagrammer who creates colorful bento box art with a pop culture twist.
Each whimsical meal conveys an impressive amount of detail and a wide variety of colors, flavors, and ingredients. Predominantly inspired by pop culture, many of kinakobun’s bento box creations feature well-known characters from beloved cartoons and movies. While Rilakkuma—an animated bear popular in Japan—is the artist’s main muse, many other cute characters make appearances in the artistic arrangements, including a flower-covered Totoro and a star-gazing Minion.
Kinakobun lovingly crafts each meticulous meal for her husband, and she notes that they typically take around 1.5 to 2 hours to create. If you’d like to see more of her culinary creations (as well as ample shots of her adorable pet bird), be sure to follow her on Instagram.
