A fox’s persona always seems to have an air of mystery about it, so it’s no wonder we’re continually fascinated by these creatures. Iza Łysoń captures their alluring spirit with her stunning fox photography. The 19-year-old creative, who’s currently a student of neurobiology, has been honing her photography skills for the past eight years. Despite her young age, Łysoń’s been published by National Geographic Poland, which is how she met Freya the fox. Freya’s owner, Roxanne, contacted Łysoń and they’ve been in touch ever since—and they shot some enchanting photos in the meantime.
Łysoń has photographed Freya in the splendors of nature. The creature enjoys the wonders of snowfall, the crunch of fall leaves, and leaps through fields of lavender. These shots are idyllic—in addition to charming—as we see the wonder and joy in Freya’s eyes. It’s easy to fall in love with her boundless spirit.
Photographing the fox was a challenge. Born in April 2015, Freya was at one time aggressive towards people, but with Roxanne’s patience, she became friendlier. Still, Łysoń didn’t forget Freya’s roots. “I had to remember that Freya is a fox—a wild animal, which not necessarily would meet all my expectations about posing,” Łysoń admits. “Taking photos of a fox is quite similar to taking photos of a dog except that you need to be faster. Fox is not in the habit of staying motionless.”
Despite the trek it is to see Freya and Roxanne, Łysoń is still eager to photograph the fox. She’s come up with even more ideas and is looking forward to realizing them through the camera.
