Awards season has kicked off with the 76th annual Golden Globes, and now is the time we celebrate the best in cinema and television while coveting the incredible outfits of A-list stars. Aside from the awards themselves, which are full of plenty of buzz-worthy moments, the after-party can sometimes steal the spotlight. InStyle Magazine and Warner Bros. teamed up to give celebrities a grand entrance into their post-show affair. Similar to the video booth at the Met Gala, they created short scenes in which an actor could have some fun, which is then shared on Instagram.
Each of the videos follows the same format. It begins with an elevator door opening to reveal the star or stars (sometimes along with a boy bellhop). Within these short snippets, some actors use props—fast food was a popular choice—while others use interpersonal interactions to foster funny moments. Some of the most memorable clips are when they appear caught-in-the-act. These playful attitudes create moments for them to remember and ways for us to enjoy them even more.
To make the set possible, InStyle and Warner Bros. collaborated with designer Ken Fulk on the elevator and lounge. “For this project,” Fulk explains, “we assembled a variety of visually arresting and highly tactile materials to create a magical moment inside and outside the elevator. Our custom marbled wallpaper is inspired by the endpapers of an old Venetian book.” The inside of the elevator, while stunning with a leopard carpet, was more subtle in order to “set the stage” for the fashion. In Fulk’s opinion, the gowns and suits were “the true stars of the show.”
