Having a local pub is great, but imagine the convenience of having a bar in your own backyard. That’s exactly what the Crabtree family in Manchester, England treated themselves to. During lockdown, they commissioned local furniture business Octavia Chic to create a tiny garden pub, aptly called The Drunken Crab.
Taking three to four weeks to complete, the adorable DIY drinking den is built from wood and looks super stylish from the outside. However, the inside is where the party’s at. The Drunken Crab is not only stocked full of spirits and beer on tap, but the homey interior has been designed to look just like a traditional pub. There’s a corner bar, wooden stools, quirky vintage knick-knacks, and even a fire stove. The Crabtree family also has plenty of Scampi Fries on supply—a staple bar snack of any British pub.
“My husband and I have had a very busy few week’s [sic] working on our favorite project to date,” says Octavia Chic. “The Drunken Crab [was] built, painted, and interior designed for the Crabtree family who are loving having their own pub in the Garden.” It’s no surprise that Octavia Chic’s Facebook post about the garden pub quickly went viral. Now with over 35,000 shares, it’s safe to say that this isn’t the last custom garden pub the family-run business will build.
