War leaves scars in people which never ever definitely fade away. A memorial in the Hungarian village of Vácrátót pays homage to soldiers who fought and died in WWI and WWII with a going statue. It depicts a family of 4 in standard Hungarian folks garments, only the father determine is missing from the portrait. Instead, there is a cutout silhouette of wherever the soldier is intended to be—alive, in the firm of his spouse and children.

Built by Hungarian sculptor Böjte Horváth István, this poignant monument reminds us of the sacrifice these troopers created and that their presence is in no way forgotten by their liked ones.  In the reduction, the wife has her arm extended to wrap all over her husband’s shoulder and the youngest kid is propped up on the invisible knee of their father. In the same way, the daughter leans her body into the vacant area exactly where her dad need to be. These minimal steps illustrate the unimaginable loss of hundreds of family members from these two catastrophic situations.

Below the sculpture is a huge stone plaque with dozens of names inscribed into it. They listing the names of Hungarian soldiers from Vácrátót who served and died in WWI and WWII. Visitors and inhabitants of the village can arrive to the memorial to reflect on the life shed as properly as spend their respects.

A going memorial pays homage to Hungarian soldiers who died in WWI and WWII with an empty silhouette.
