Since the COVID-19 pandemic, many of us are working from home—including musicians. NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts have gone remote, too, with many artists recording intimate performances from their own homes. The latest home concert to grace our screens is that of English singer and songwriter Dua Lipa. NPR says, “While we can’t film our Tiny Desk concerts at NPR’s D.C. office during the pandemic, our ‘home’ series has created opportunity for global megastars like Dua Lipa to bring her uptempo dance joints all the way from London.”

Lipa rose to fame after she launched her first album in 2017; but like most artists, her career has slowed down a little since the pandemic. The 25-year-old’s Future Nostalgia tour was canceled, and she and her band haven’t been able to get together to practice or perform. Joined by a bass player, a guitar player, and four back-up singers, the Tiny Desk Concert is their only “concert” together since lockdown, making it extra special.

Filmed in their London “home” studio, Lipa and the band perform in a warm, intimate setting. The stripped-down set includes a handful of tracks from Future Nostalgia, including Levitating, Pretty Please, Don’t Start Now, and Love Again, a song about “manifesting good things into your life when things aren’t quite going your way.”
