You Can Now Fly to the Australian Outback for Free

Do you plan to visit Australia this year? If you’re going to travel all the way down under, why not extend your trip a little longer to explore the wild Australian Outback? And if you’re worried about keeping on budget, you don’t even need to pay to get there thanks to the Fly Free to the Outback program.

The free flights take off from various Australian cities including Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane. In order to claim your cost-free ticket, you must book it before July 31, 2018 and travel before December 31, 2018. You’ll also have to arrange a minimum two-night stay in the Northern Territory with the program’s partnering travel providers—Qantas Vacations, Down Under Answers, Goway, Aspire Down Under, or About Australia.

From lush national parks to fascinating historical tours, “the bush” has a lot to offer. You can visit Uluru aka Ayers Rock—Australia’s largest natural landmark. Serving as a sacred destination for Indigenous Australians, the 1,142-foot-tall, vibrant red sandstone is thought to be 550 million years old. Here you can also see artist Bruce Munro’s magical Field of Light installation. On display until 2020, the artist covered the landscape with more than 50,000 glowing glass spheres. And at Alice Springs, the nearest town to Uluru, you can find amazing hiking routes and bike trails, explore wildlife centers, see the work of local Aboriginal artists, and even book a camel ride.
