Rows of black plastic seats line the exterior of a furniture showroom designed by architecture practice CHYBIK+KRISTOF. Unsurprisingly, the impressive façade has also became a creative advertising banner for the business.

Once an old car showroom on the outskirts of a housing estate in the Czech Republic, today the building accommodates the showroom, warehouse and offices for a furniture company. The architect’s brief  was to find a cost effective architectural solution, given the temporary nature of the investment. Over 900 plastic were fixed to the steel structure of building, forming the interesting façade. Keeping pragmatism in mind, the architects ensured that there is a possibility to replace the chairs in a case of damage, and that the high-pressure water cleaning can be done once to twice a year. The inner showroom is split between three circular galleries, separated with curtains and each representing the three different segments of company’s business.

Effortlessly blending into its surrounding area, Hotel Mono is set in a row of six adjoining restored shophouses. Designed by local studio Spacedge Designs, Hotel Mono’s original features include an attractive facade and large arched windows from the Rococo era that flirt with modern interior details. Uniting heritage and the contemporary in a chic and charming fashion, the hotel is designed for discerning travellers, with an emphasis on coziness. Accordingly, each of the 46 rooms invites guests to immerse themselves into an eclectic home away from home while enjoying the relaxing comfort provided by sleek lines and the minimalist design of interior. Hotel Mono makes a real leisure spot from which to get to know the city and discover its interesting shops, markets, street food and cool urban hangouts.

Spanish-born, London-based photographer Ana Cuba’s eclectic subject matter and eager eye results in imagery that evokes a sense of escapism.

With an illustrious client list studded with the likes of Vanity Fair, Monocle Magazine and The Guardian, Cuba also works as the Photo Editor for Amuse and still manages to find the time to work on personal projects, including travel and portraiture series. Using a range of cameras, from a 5D to a Rolleiflex 2.8, Cuba says her biggest regret was selling her Contax T3 in order to save for her Master’s degree in Art Direction at ÉCAL. Whatever she’s capturing, from desert flowers to  her eye for form and color imprints her photos with a distinctive and elegant aesthetic trademark.
