Doodles Come To Life In The Mono Collection By Greem Jeong

[ad_1]

The ‘Mono’ collection of furniture pieces “is the product of curiosity about mundane, everyday material”, the Seoul-based designer explains. Crafted from silicone tubes—commonly used for the insulation of wires and pipes—the furniture pieces are coiled tightly, as if ready to spring to attention. “The object stands still in one place,” Jeong tells us, “but feels as dynamic as a living creature.” At present, the collection consists of tables, chairs, and a selection of stools, but the unique design properties of silicone tube offer endless possibilities for Jeong’s formal exploration. Moving forward, Jeong’s ultimate goal is to “create an interaction between an object and a person in which the object gives an answer without words”.
