Jeremy Miranda Paints Spatial Confusions

Jeremy Miranda presents spatial confusions between inside and outside spaces, with his work appearing as a contemporary meditation on impressionism. The artist has created a new sense of atmosphere in the portrayal of his home and everyday life, filtered through hazy memories that blur the line between what is real and what isn’t.

Based in New Hampshire, Miranda takes inspiration from his surroundings in the American Northeast, focusing particularly on wilderness, residential spaces and the merging of the two. Through playful use of block colour and texture, he depicts greenhouses, garden sheds and waterfront views–often with the landscape appearing as elements of a stage’s set design. Miranda’s portrayals of ‘frame within a frame’ scenarios add another level of tactility to his work, putting the viewer in his position as the artist and inspiring the feeling that his experience is relatable and familiar.
