Korean Schooling By Andres Gallardo

Gallardo unintentionally stumbled upon this project after getting lost in Seoul. Originally, he had planned to visit well-known places and architecture in the city, yet he found himself in a school playground Each image is perfectly whole and tells its own visual narrative…and felt a deeper connection with these colorful places. He noticed that many of the schools had symbols attached to them such as the analog clock and the national flag, and used these as a basis for linking his project together. The symmetry of the buildings and surrounding trees evoke scenes from a Wes Anderson film: each image is perfectly whole and tells its own visual narrative. But together, the series of images bleed into one another, creating a visual flow between each school, taking the viewer back to childhoods spent playing with friends in the school grounds.
