From a distance, the concrete-covered Oyamel House appears to be another large rock in this Mexican hilltop location.
The house was designed by Mexico-based studio RP Arquitectos, presenting numerous architectural elements that begin a dialogue with the surrounding environment. One side of the house interacts with the street: the other offers the residents a striking view of the extinct volcano Cofre de Perote and the Pico de Orizaba, a stratovolcano that stands as the highest mountain in Mexico. Oyamel exists as a series of layered concrete volumes, offering the interior area various double and triple height spaces. With the intricate layout this complex form establishes, the residence boasts multiple living and dining areas, bedrooms with dressing and bathrooms, pool, garage for four cars and a terrace.
