Andy’s Eyes is the nome de plume of Andy Smith—a Canadian photographer based out of Toronto, whose perceptive images of urban spaces illustrate the beauty of the banal.
Shooting on a compact digital camera, he wanders the streets of his city seeking to capture moments of aesthetic synthesis between strange or disparate objects. His ongoing series ‘Pattern Memory’ finds repeated motifs through reflection and shadow throughout the streets of Toronto. The subtlety of his work lends itself to a careful reading of the cityscape, granting center stage to moments that our eyes would usually glide over.
