Studio KO’s Moroccan Villa Overlooks The Snowy Atlas Mountains

[ad_1]

Situated just a half-hour drive from Marrakech outside a small town called Tagadert is ‘Villa K’, a five-bedroom retreat designed by French firm Studio KO that sits softly on the land.

Based between Paris and Marrakech, the design aesthetic of Studio KO is difficult to define: elegant and pluralistic, they explore minimalism whilst paying homage to regional design vernacular—this is nowhere more evident than in ‘Villa K’, a large property in Morocco that overlooks the Atlas Mountains. The construction of the two single storey structures was loosely based on the traditional building techniques in the area. The external walls have been rendered in a pale umber that mimics the tonal red land that surrounds the property. This simple construction of clay and earth bears a minimalist facade, punctuated by glass sliding doors and large windows that perfectly frame the bucolic countryside and graphic elements of the building itself. From the lounge area a large terrace and 30 meter long infinity pool stretch out towards the horizon and the snowy Atlas Mountains.
