Brown and Black Bandages by BAND-AID

From Crayola’s Colors of the World crayon set to Mattel’s diverse range of Barbies, many brands are doing their part to represent people of all skin tones. BAND-AID is the latest company to support the fight against racism—it recently announced a range of bandages in shades of black and brown.

The company announced the new products on Instagram with an image that shows the bandages in 5 different skin tones, including light, medium, and deep shades of brown and black. “We hear you. We see you. We’re listening to you,” says BAND-AID. “We stand in solidarity with our Black colleagues, collaborators, and community in the fight against racism, violence, and injustice. We are committed to taking actions to create tangible change for the Black community.⁣”

BAND-AID—which is part of Johnson & Johnson—previously launched a range of bandages in multiple skin tones in 2005, called Perfect Blend. The product was unfortunately discontinued 3 years later, but its latest range shows the brand’s continued commitment to representing people of all skin tones. “We are dedicated to inclusivity and providing the best healing solutions, better representing you,” says BAND-AID. “We can, we must, and we will do better.”

In addition to the new bandages, BAND-AID is donating $100,000 to the Black Lives Matter Foundation.
