Twin Sisters Embrace Their Natural Afro Hair and Take the Beauty World by Storm

Identical twin sisters TK Wonder and Cipriana Quann have found their calling by embracing their natural hair. As two of the minds behind Urban Bush Babes, a lifestyle website that has 350,000 weekly visitors, they’ve been creating buzz around New York for their powerful attitude and sense of style.

One look at the twins, and it’s no wonder that this beautiful duo is turning heads on the street. But embracing their appearance hasn’t always been easy. “I’ve been natural for seven years now. I was modeling for almost a decade and the only issue that I had in the modeling world had to do with my hair. My hair is afro-textured; I don’t have a defined curl. I was beginning to actually hate my hair and seeing it as a huge obstacle,” Cipriana shares. It wasn’t until they stopped straightening it and learned to love their natural hair, that the women found success.

Now, along with Nikisha Brunson, they share their stories of overcoming bullying due to their appearance and inspire others to embrace their uniqueness. And it’s their natural hair that has catapulted them to success, leading to features in VogueGlamour, and Essence, as well as corporate collaborations with GAP and Rebecca Minkoff.

Their Instagram success has now given them a platform to break down stereotypes and show that the world of beauty can be open to a wide range of appearances. Best of all, it’s brought them happiness in encouraging women to be themselves.

Cipriana Quann and TK Wonder are identical twin sisters that have embraced their natural hair after years of seeing it as an obstacle.

The site has 350,000 weekly visitors. “We wanted to create this really supportive, encouraging platform showing women of color in a different light — different from what you might see from mainstream media. We wanted to tear down those labels and encourage women to be themselves, no matter how different or weird it might seem.”
