Elina Ulvio’s KUU Lights Mimic The Moon

Inspired by her affection for atmospheric illumination, award-winning designer Elina Ulvio has unveiled ‘KUU’ — a set of pendant lights which mimic the moon.

Translating as ‘moon’ in Finnish — Elina’s native language — KUU has been designed with a cordless link of electricity running through each element to enable the unlimited rotation angle. This movability feature enables the endless rotation of the lamp to imitate the moon’s many crescents. By simply rotating each individual oval, direct or indirect light can be tuned depending on your needs. Utilizing her background in architecture, Elina produces designs which consider a harmonious balance of space and form. Considering the combination of unique design concepts and practicality of each piece, Elina describes her work as ‘functional art’.
